Our focus is Information Technology in its broadest sense, encouraging more students into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) studies/careers and have been involved in influencing recent changes to the Computer Science curriculum.
We facilitate industry placements, are active members of the Livery Schools Link, work with Accenture through their schools workshop programme for girls, with eSkills UK (the Sector Skills Council for IT) to encourage students into careers in Cyber Security, organise debates to air the important topics of the day, and with EHRC (Equality and Human Rights Commission) to ensure equal opportunities for disabled students.
We concentrate our efforts in a small number of high impact projects, focusing in particular on the two schools that we support, the disadvantaged, and on best practice in the use of IT in schools.
The Hammersmith Academy
We co-sponsor, along with the Mercers' Company a Secondary school with a specialisation in Digital Media and Information Technology. We nominate governors to this innovative school to help pursue our vision to develop a school drawing on our IT expertise and using digital media at the heart of its learning environment. We also provide mentoring for the sixth form and regular talks from leading industry figures to raise awareness and aspirations. The school is developing a new generation of students with the latest creative media and digital technology skills. Its alumni will be the IT technicians, artists, industry leaders and IT entrepreneurs that help drive London's future growth. You can see the latest news on the Academy website by clicking here
The Lilian Baylis Technology School
We have supported the LBTS in Lambeth since 2002 when it was a failing school. In 2013 the school was rated by OFSTED as “Outstanding in all areas”. Our main focus is to raise the aspirations of students by providing them with insights into a wide range of business and professional careers and linking these to the academic requirements for developing such a career path. To this end we provide a mentoring service for the sixth form, industry workshops on STEM, cyber security and e-safety, work experience placements, talks from leading business figures and student lunches at WCIT Hall.. We also provide 1/2 governors to the school. You can see the latest LBTS news on the school's website by clicking here.
