On Saturday, 4 September 2010, National Trust Chartwell will host a charity concert commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and The Blitz. This twilight concert is so much more than the normal outdoor concert! The Central Band of the RAF will star, but will be accompanied by historical film, narration, actors, special effects and aircraft displays - all in the garden of Winston Churchill's former residence and attended by the Churchill family and Dame Vera Lynn.
Andrew Pawsey, an ITC Freeman and organiser of the concert, says 'This is an opportunity for me to pay back some of the charitable support I received from the RAF Association during my 22 years of service'.
Saturday, 4 September 2010 corresponds to Saturday, 7 September 1940 - the day the Luftwaffe bombed London for the first time and so the first night of The Blitz - an historical occasion for all Londoners!
