Livery companies are well known for their city interests and charity work, what is less well known is that there is an active community of livery golfers. The Information Technologists enter many livery golf events as well as running our own charity golf day - this year the WCIT event was held at the beautiful Beaconsfield golf club.
Members from the Paviors, World Traders, International Bankers and Fan Makers along with WCIT members and friends attended the day making a total of 58 players. The weather was perfect and the course was in superb condition. It was a good event enjoyed by all.
Peter Greenwood won the WCIT shield for the second year in a row, which is an excellent achievement. He is the first to retain the title.
The day raised £2,143 for the WCIT Charity. This is an absolutely fantastic result with funds raised from golfers giving personally; it is always very impressive to see how generous the livery golfing community is.
Stefan Fafinski, Chair of WCIT Charity said, ‘The golf day has been a great contributor to our charity for many years and we are always grateful, not only to our own members, but our friends from other Livery companies who embody the spirit of livery giving and help with our mission of promoting the use of technology to change people’s lives.’
Livery golfers are a very friendly and welcoming group of people, if you would like to join us please do not hesitate to contact Peter Cordery: firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on the WCIT Charity contact Eleanor MacGregor: email@example.com.
