WCIT Golf Day 2017
The WCIT golf day 2017 was held at Lambourne Golf Club on Tuesday 27th June and 56 golfers played.
Players included WCIT members and their guests plus teams from other livery companies: Horners, Marketors, Carmen and the International Bankers who were the overall team winners.
This year the emphasis was on Fellowship and Golf and £1100 was generated for WCIT charities.
The course was in fine condition and despite threats of a very damp day the weather was mostly dry and warm and it only started to rain toward the end.
Scoring was high and competitive. The WCIT individual winner was Rick Huckstep (pictured with Peter Cordery), narrowly beating Ted Rees on count back, who came in with a magnificent score of 35 points playing off ¾ handicap.
Journeyman James Grant, the newest and youngest player to join, won the longest drive with a staggering hit of over 300 yards!
Thanks go to Mark Holford for generously donating the wine for the prizes and to Ted Rees for very kindly providing the golf balls.
The WCIT golf society is friendly and new players are always welcome. There will be a WCIT get-together at Harleyford Golf Club on 21st September. If you have even the remotest interest in golf or new ideas for the WCIT Golf Club please come along. For more information on this day and other golf events please do get in touch with Peter Cordery on
