Livery Schools Link (www.liveryschoolslink.org.uk) are very pleased to announce that The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists is part of the first phase of Livery Companies taking part in the launch of the Livery School Link Volunteering Platform. This technology driven concept is enabling teachers and schools to make requests for volunteers that can be fulfilled by the Freemen and Liveryman drawn from Livery Companies.
Many young people in schools struggle to know what careers they are interested in – we can help by going into schools and helping inspire them in the different careers we represent.
Livery Company volunteers can easily sign-up and help with:
- Motivational Career Talks: Inspire the next generation by giving a careers talk in a class or to an entire year group on topics such as how you moved from education into work as well as sharing your unique career insights and advice.
- Supporting Career Days: Help on school career days including café conversations/speed networking in small groups, mock interviews and providing CV tips and advice
- And more…!
From today, Livery Schools Link will be promoting the platform to schools and teachers to start making requests for volunteers – and then the platform will email volunteers who are signed up only advising on any matching opportunities that they are interested in.
Our Livery feels that this is an excellent initiative and would positively seek your support. WCIT Charity is also one of the founding funders for the platform.
Let’s make sure we have volunteers from our Livery Company on the VP, ready to help!
To find out more go to the Livery Schools Link website (www.liveryschoolslink.org.uk) where you can easily sign-up and create your volunteering profile.
Just a few hours a year, could make all the difference to a youngster’s life.
