On Saturday November 12th the 2016 Lord Mayor’s Show took place in the City of London, and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists marched alongside partners Hammersmith Academy and the Mercer’s Company in the procession. Lord Mayor Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley rode in the Gold state coach, accompanied by his bodyguard of the Company of Pikemen & Musketeers from the Honourable Artillery Company. Riding in a separate coach was Lady Mayoress Wendy Parmley, who is Junior Warden of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.

Before the procession, WCIT’s crew rowed the Company’s Senior Warden Stefan Fafinski in its cutter CITO in a flotilla of traditional Thames barges and small boats, including the famous QRB Gloriana. The ancient pageant is a London institution and hasn’t missed a year since Wellington’s funeral blocked the whole city in 1852. The modern procession was over three and a half miles long and filled the whole space between Bank and Aldwych, cheered by a crowd of around half a million people and watched live on the BBC by millions more. The Lord Mayor Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley returned to Mansion House at 2.30, and WCIT Master Chris Histed was part of the Livery Masters’ Guard of Honour greeting Andrew as he stepped down out of the Lord Mayor's Gold state coach. The Lord Mayor was presented with a sword made from Blackpool rock, and the return was followed by an informal lunch at Mansion House.
