On Friday 11th November 2016 the Silent Ceremony took place in the City of London’s Guildhall, in which Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley was sworn in as the Lord Mayor for this coming year. It was excellent to see Andrew become Lord Mayor and at his side his wife Wendy, Junior Warden of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.
The Silent Ceremony takes place the day preceding the Lord Mayor’s Show, and is known as "Silent" because, other than a short declaration by the incoming Lord Mayor, almost nothing else is said. The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists was formally represented at the Silent Ceremony by Master Chris Histed and Clerk Mike Jenkins.
