Late last year the Court of Justice of the EU ruled that the "Safe Harbour" framework for EU-US data transfers was invalid. Although there was no need for the WCIT to take any action as the companies that hold our data (e.g. Linkedin, iContact) need to comply with any new legislation. However that framework has now been replaced by a new framework - the EU-US Privacy Shield - that significantly improves commercial oversight and enhances privacy protections.
