On Tuesday, 15th October, our WCIT Hall was honoured with the first ever official visit by an incumbent Lord Mayor.
The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of London Roger Gifford was attending a luncheon following the quarterly Financial Services Group (FSG) meeting.
The FSG comprises senior representatives of 12 leading modern Livery Companies whose role is (i) to advise the incoming and incumbent Lord Mayors about the issues concerning our various industry sectors and their relevance to the City and (ii) to provide expertise and advice for the Lord Mayor’s overseas visits.
The Lord Mayor was accompanied by Sheriff, Adrian Waddingham CBE and Neil Chrimes of the Mansion House staff. The lunch was attended by ten representatives of the FSG, chaired by Karen Richardson, the first lady Master of the Solicitors Company.
From our Company, this was the first “official” function for our newly-installed Master, Michael Webster, plus the Deputy Master, Michael Grant, (who was previously our Company’s FSG representative) and of course our Clerk. The Lord Mayor enjoyed the hospitality at our Hall and felt that the FSG was very productive in helping to brief the Lord Mayor and his team.
