Lucky thirteen people came to this year’s Capercaillie shoot, on the 18th September. We enjoyed lovely weather, which helped to make it a special and enjoyable day. A slightly different format from previous years in that the more experienced shooters were given a pseudo-FITASC round to do in the morning and the novices were given instruction on a similar number of clays. The FITASC, an Olympian discipline, proved to be quite testing for our regular shooters but hopefully all enjoyed it as something a little different to their normal experiences. The novices of course came out of their training fully capable of taking on the squad at some handicapped targets for the second session.
Capercaillie Cup was taken, again, by Otto Benz Jr. – well done Otto ! Otto also took High Gun trophy for the day. Runner up for the Guns was Gary Mason. Rob Snow and Nick Handel won Novice High Gun and Runner Up respectively.
An enjoyable lunch in the clubhouse followed by prize giving rounded off an extremely pleasant day. Good company, some nice food, a glass of wine and waving a 12 bore shotgun around a bit (not in that order!). What more can you ask for ? It was a great success and many attendees verbally signed up for next years event.
Thanks to Nick Harris for all the hard work organising this year's event.
