Sadly, Sir Maurice Wilkes, computing pioneer, died on 29 November 2010, aged 97.
Sir Maurice, who was knighted in 2000 and created an Honorary Freeman of the Information Technologists' Company in 2008, was known as the 'Father of Computing' and had a distiguished career spanning more than 70 years.
