On Wednesday 21 October, our very own quiz master, Kimball Bailey, will be holding a LIVE Virtual Quiz via ZOOM
Format of the evening:
Log into ZOOM at 6.30pm ready for the quiz to start at 6.45pm and will aim to finish by 9.00pm.
There will be up to five “normal” rounds and a picture round. Entrants will self-mark (and advise their scores using the chat facility of Zoom). If there are any prizes, they will be modest, so for the winners it will be just about the glory…
We will not be forming teams on the night (using breakout rooms). Each notional “team” will be equivalent to one “Zoom tile”, so however many people in a household can cram round a table and view a single screen. If, however, you would otherwise be a “solo entrant” and don’t want to be, or if you want to be in a larger geographically-spread team of friends and family, this can be done through additional technology. For example, multiple “Zoom tiles” can connect behind the scenes by WhatsApp on your phones; on this basis you don’t even need all the people in the team to be on Zoom at all if you don’t want to. This approach has worked on other online quizzes we have seen during lockdown. So either form your own team on an ad hoc basis if you like, or please ask the organisers if you want to be introduced to others with a similar objective. We will publish the list of entrants on the day of the quiz to facilitate this.
Pre-registration is vital – we cannot accept short notice attendees on the night. Closing date for pre-registration is noon on Wednesday 21 October.
The quiz is free but – and this is absolutely voluntary – here is a link to the donate page for the WCIT Charity. Suggested donation per Zoom “tile” is £10, though of course we won’t turn down anything more substantial - http://www.justgiving.com/wcit
