The Growth Tech Evenings are an opportunity for leading figures to discuss and debate, in a confidential manner, their views, expectations, issues or concerns for IT companies in the near- term. The sixth in this series will be focused on Property Tech (PropTech). “There is no doubt…that a digitally enabled real estate sector will not only be recognised as a global leader but will also deliver tangible benefits for the economy of the UK” (The Liquid Report: Leading the digital transformation of global Real Estate, 2019)
The discussions will largely be driven from an IT perspective, led by three business leaders at the vanguard of the PropTech revolution. PropTech is applications of new technologies that make the use, sale and lease of real estate more efficient and offer new functionalities. PropTech broadly falls into four sub-categories namely, Rental platforms and Space as a Service, Sales platforms and webshops, Digitisation of administrative management and Smart Buildings. PropTech is hardly a new industry; estate agents and other businesses in the property industry have been digitally transforming for decades (e.g. Rightmove is 18 years old) but recently some PropTech companies have been touting claims of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning so sophisticated it can replace a real estate agent outright.
The evening will provide an opportunity to hear the experiences of those involved, identify the key drivers which they believe will affect the growth of PropTech and to discuss the opportunities and issues this presents for the global real estate marketplace. The guest speakers will start the evening by providing context to the topic and giving their views on the opportunities and challenges.
There will then follow an interactive debate which we expect to last around an hour. Wine and soft drinks will be provided.
