The presenter will be Justin Howard-Sneyd MW of Domaine of the Bee www.domaineofthebee.com.
One of fewer than 400 Masters of Wine in the world (that’s fewer people than have gone into space),
Justin now makes wine in France’s Roussillon region.
Justin will talk about the development of Domaine of the Bee, and we will taste a number of wines:
Hart of Gold, an English sparkling wine that Justin created (working with Ridgeview in Sussex and a grower in Herefordshire); Field of the Bee and Bee Pink – a white and a rosé from the Roussillon, made with the help of local winemaker Jean-Marc Lafage; and then four reds from Domaine of the Bee, including “Les Genoux” (the “Bees’ Knees”), made with grapes from 100 year old vines.
The wines from Domaine of the Bee come personally recommended by Kimball Bailey, who also recommends joining Domaine of the Bee’s own wine club (see the website). But he’s not the only one to give them the thumbs up: Jancis Robinson gave the Domaine of the Bee 2015 red 16/20 and the Les Genoux 2013 16.5, and Andrew Jefford recently said: “I’m sure there’s something that this cool, clear-headed wine creator does badly – but I’ve no idea what it might be.”
Cost will be £40pp (subject to numbers; there may be a small rebate). This will include the wines as above, some nibbles to help worry them down, and the inevitable charitable donation.
Please contact Kimball Bailey on firstname.lastname@example.org for payment details.
