The Growth Tech Evenings are an opportunity for leading figures to discuss and debate, in a confidential manner, their views, expectations, issues or concerns for IT companies in the near- term. The fifth in this series will be focused on Retail Tech. “Amazon is not the asteroid that struck planet retail. Competitive pressures from disruptive, pure-play e-commerce players and new physical retailing models are causing radical changes to antiquated business models” (2018 RIS/Gartner Retail Technology Study).
The discussions will largely be driven from an IT perspective, led by three business leaders at the vanguard of the Retail Tech revolution. From the early use of in-store EPoS systems to the mobile revolution in online ordering and delivery tracking, Retail Tech is dramatically changing the ways in which suppliers, retailers
and customers interact. Retailers increasingly need to become data-driven organisations for competitive advantage, to gain deeper market insights and to increase customer personalisation. AI powered retail applications are being rapidly adopted to enhance the retail and ecommerce experience. Retailers are investing in a multitude of technology avenues, including social media, leveraging voice assistants, such as
Amazon Echo and Google Home, and connecting physical store and online experiences.
The evening will provide an opportunity to hear the experiences of those involved, identify the key drivers which they believe will affect the growth of Retail Tech and to discuss the opportunities and issues this presents for the global retail marketplace.
