Journeyman Scheme

Membership is open to IT practitioners and those working in other areas such as finance,

accountancy, law, health, personnel, marketing and PR with a strong IT connection.

Who is the scheme for?
The Journeyman Scheme is designed for young, qualified IT professionals with the potential to become leading practitioners. Typically, journeymen will be aged between 25 and 35.

How does the scheme work?
The scheme lasts for three years. Journeymen work with an ITC mentor to plan, review and record their training and development. At the end of the three years, the mentor will recommend whether the journeyman should be admitted to the Company.

What are the benefits?
For young IT professionals, the scheme provides an opportunity to network with other journeymen and Company members, and to work with a highly experienced mentor. There are regular events, often featuring eminent guest speakers, and opportunities to develop planning, team-working and presentation skills by working with one of ITC’s panels.

There are also a number of benefits for employers. Employees who join the Journeyman Scheme will be bringing new skills and expertise into the workplace, expanding the knowledge base and providing valuable networking opportunities. The scheme is cost-effective, and will cause minimal disruption - mentors give their time pro bono, and mentoring sessions take place outside working hours. Employers can also take the opportunity to attend Company events.

The Pinkerton Award
Journeymen are eligible to enter for the John Pinkerton Award each year. The winner of the award will receive funding to support them through an education programme or project which contributes to their development as a leading IT practitioner.
