Gordon Cup for military skills competition at Blandford
As part of its links with the Royal Corps of Signals, the IT Company is supporting the Defence College of Information Systems at Blandford's Gordon Cup bi-annual military skills competition, where the young soldiers of 11 Signal Regiment put their phase 2 training into practice in an 11 hour exercise on Salisbury Plain.
The IT Company sponsored the Stretcher Race, which saw the teams carrying a very heavy tractor tyre attached to a scaffold stretcher over a one-mile course. We presented plaques to the fastest team around the Stretcher Race course and a Playstation 3 to the team who achieved the highest score over the competition – as if it wasn’t enough to score the highest points for the competition, the winning Ghurka team also RAN the entire course as well.
(See Mike Williams's report of the competition held in April of this year by clicking here.)
We are looking to sponsor another stand at the Gordon Cup in October 2008 and would like to give something like a Games Console (Nintendo Wii, Play Station 3 etc.) as a group prize, and / or something smaller to each of the winning team (so 10 of the same item) - Corporate type items such as Memory Sticks, Portfolios, Gift cards etc. could be suitable. Any member of the company who can offer something suitable, please contact Mike Williams on 07786 430 405 or mike.williams@arup.com.
