Michael Grant talks about the history of the Livery movement
See and hear Michael Grant, the Clerk of the Information Technologists' Company, talk about the history of the Livery movement, from its genesis in the medieval guilds to its current status with a number of new companies reflecting the modern industries underpinning the work of the City. All Livery Companies, whether hundreds of years old, or in the case of the Information Technologists - fifteen years old, are united by a common interest in promoting their trades and professions alongside a wide range of charitable and educational activities.

Michael Grant
Michael has had a long and successful career within the ICT industry having started at H.J. Heinz as a management trainee. After a few years with Redifon and then Prime Computers he moved into PR as a Director for Hill Holiday Connors and CosmopolousWhile there one of his clients was Wang Laboratories.
Michael then worked for ICL and Commodore before moving into the software industry with Lotus Development and managing the European marketing roll-out of Notes. He then joined Gateway Europe where he set up their Irish based European Call Centre and managed the Dublin and local country based marketing team. From 1998 until 2004Michael worked in Executive Recruitment specialising in the ICT industry.
A member of the Company of Information Technologists for over 12 years Michael became Clerk in 2004.
Michael has 6 children – 3 living in the UK and 3 in the USA - and has a wide variety of hobbies including sailing, traveling and charity work.
He is a member of the Honourable Artillery Company, the Company of Pikemen and Mustketeers (Lord Mayor of London’s private bodyguards) and The City Pickwick Club.
He studied Business Studies at Ealing College Business School.
He is still very active in the ICT industry and regularly Chairs conferences in the US and Internationally as well as acting as Master of Ceremonies at Awards and other events.
