iT4C secures 5,000th volunteer
Date
03/03/2008
iT4Communities, (iT4C) a programme of the Information Technologists’ Company, has reached a milestone having registered its 5,000th volunteer as a new report by the Commission on the Future of Volunteering praises the role of volunteering and calls for less government regulations.

iT4C’s volunteer, Anthony Smout, offered his services in order to help others benefit from his 10 years’ experience in the IT sector and will be presented with an i Pod, donated by sponsor Erudine, as a reward for his kind and generous nature. Smout says, “Although the i Pod is a fantastic surprise, being able to help others using my IT skills will no doubt be even more rewarding!”

Whilst iT4C is celebrating, the Commission on the Future of Volunteering’s report states that the Government should take the lead in encouraging volunteering, playing a vital role in bringing people together across communities. Josh Hoole, of iT4C adds, “The fact that we now have 5,000 volunteers on our books is a real plus for small organisations in need of IT support. This means that whatever problem they may have, we will have a volunteer with the necessary skills to help! It also shows that there are many people out there willing to donate their time and we always need more, so hopefully we could soon be celebrating our 10,000th volunteer!”

Innovative software development company, Erudine, are kindly providing iT4C with the i Pod. As Kim Sutherland, marketing manager says, “We think that the work iT4C do is very worthwhile and it is something that we are very keen to be associated with. Any chance to encourage those within the IT community to give something back to small organisations and businesses is a no brainer for us!”
