David Morriss - Master

David was educated at Bancroft's School and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology where he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Following a period with London Transport he joined IBM as a Systems Engineer. He retired from IBM in 1997 after 31 years service, where he held several senior management appointments including Director of Business Plans, General Manager Software and Services and General Manager, Government Industry for IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was appointed to the board of IBM UK Holdings in 1987.

He is currently a non-executive director of REX Software and a Trustee of Ability.Net. He joined the British Computer Society in 1974 and became a Fellow in 1990. He was appointed Vice President of External Relations in October 1999 and served as President for 2004/05.

Jo Connell - Senior Warden

Until her retirement in March 2003 Jo was Group Managing Director of Xansa plc, one of the UK's leading companies in business consulting, information technology and business process outsourcing.

Jo currently works with a number of organisations both not-for-profit and commercial. Her not-for-profit roles are Chairman of Help the Aged, Chairman of Third Age Employment Network, Chairman of The Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted, and Vice Chairman of the University of Hertfordshire. Her commercial activities include non-executive directorships of THUS Group plc, Cornwell Management Consultants, @UK plc and Polyfield Property Ltd. She is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Companion of the Institute of Management.

Ken Olisa - Junior Warden

Ken started his IT career as an IBM scholar at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He worked for IBM and Wang before founding Interregnum, the technology merchant bank, in 1992. His charitable and public service work includes chairing a homeless charity, the Thames Reach Bondway, and being a governor of the Peabody Trust.

Ken retired from Interregnum in 2006 and now runs a boutique technology merchant bank – Restoration Partners.

His current public company appointments include Directorships at (where he is a member of the Audit Committee and a member of the Board of the Reuters Foundation) and Canadian software developer – Open Text Corporation (where he Chairs the Remuneration Committee). In addition he serves on the Board of, or is an adviser to, several privately held and innovative companies including BioWisdom and Metapraxis.

Charles Hughes - Panels Warden

Charles Hughes was President of the BCS and chairman of trustee board and council for 2005-06. He joined the BCS in 1974 and became a fellow in 1990. He chaired the team developing the Professionalism in IT programme, which he champions and sponsors. He has been deeply involved with the society’s governance and membership developments and relations with the government.

Charles founded eManagement Ltd in 1999 providing strategic and project services to government and the IT industry. His 38-year career in IT, following a mathematics degree at the University of Manchester, began with ICL where he held various director level appointments. As project director at the DTI in the 1990's he developed and launched the information society initiative.

Charles has been a board director and chairman of IT companies in Australia, Germany, UK and US. His communication skills are widely used on behalf of clients and voluntary organizations and he has successfully guided cultural and organisational change across government and the private sector.

Charles is also an Executive Council Member of the Parliamentary IT Committee, past Council Member of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems and past Chairman of the Real Time Club. He is married to Beverley and enjoys sport, food, travel and philately.

Charles joined the Information Technologists in 1996 to put something back into the industry which he has enjoyed for forty years and to participate in the ceremonial and social activities of the Company.  He serves on the Court and F & GP and is involved in gaining a Royal Charter for the Company.  Previously Charles was an Apprentice Master, Chairman of the Industry Committee and Chairman of the PR Committee.  He became a Warden in September 2007

Colin Knight - Deputy Master

Colin is currently President & CEO for IPC Information Systems - Europe: a leader in the supply of business-critical communications solutions serving the global Financial Trading and Command Systems markets. He joined the company in 2002 from mmO2 Ltd (formerly Genie-Internet.com), a British Telecommunications Mobile Internet provider, where he was Vice President - Operations.

Prior to that, Colin spent 15 years with British Telecommunications, in several managerial roles including Deputy-Managing Director of a BT subsidiary. Before his career in Telecoms, he was General Manager of APT Electronics - Unitech Group and European Technical Support Manager for Business Computers Ltd.

He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Kings Lynn Technical College and London's Southall Technical College and is a member of the Institute of Directors, Chartered Institute of Management and the Institute of Operations Management.

Married with two children, both working in Information Technology, he lives in Berkshire and has a manic interest in cars and motoring.
