All livery companies are awarded their Charter – or Grant of Arms – by the City of London. In 1992, the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists received its Charter from the Lord Mayor and Aldermen of the City of London.
The Charter gives us permission to admit 300 Liverymen, provided that ‘the Fine for admission to the Livery is not less than 600 pounds sterling’ and that no one is admitted to the livery unless they are a freeman of the City of London. The Court of Aldermen has recently approved an increase in the number of Liverymen to 350.
