On 31 October, the Information Technologists Company (ITC) hosted an awareness event at the Reuters Building in Canary Wharf. More than 80 senior IT managers and directors attended in order to find out more about the work of ITC.

This was the first of a number of events to be held at Canary Wharf, which will be followed by a presentation at ITC’s Hall for those interested in learning more about ITC and its work. Canary Wharf was selected as the location for the event, due to the wealth of IT companies and knowledge located there, which ITC hopes to address, encouraging new members from this key area.

A presentation from ITC's new Master David Morriss put emphasis on the successes of the Livery in charity, fellowship and ensuring that an influx of new members continues to fuel ITC’s voluntary activities such as its new Hammersmith technology school.

Peter Drake of ITC said, “We felt that it was important to increase awareness in the IT rich area of Canary Wharf, and are delighted that Reuters have helped us to facilitate this event. We hope that the awareness evening enlightened those who attended on the benefits of becoming a Freeman of a Livery company.”

Due to the success of the evening, ITC will be hold a regular informal wine evening at Browns Restaurant, Canary Wharf on the third Wednesday of every month. This is the same successful format used for the last 15 years at Bangers wine bar near Liverpool Street where those interested in joining have a chance to meet with existing members.
