New Liverymen receive a certificate to mark their new status within the Company

Membership is open to IT practitioners and those working in other areas – such as finance, accountancy, law, health, personnel, marketing and PR – where there has been a strong IT connection. To become a member, you will need to demonstrate a track record of achievement related to the IT sector. You will also need to show some understanding of the Livery ethos and in particular, a commitment to giving something back to the sector and the wider community. Read profiles of some our current members.

Benefits

Many men and women in the IT sector are motivated to contribute to charitable or educational causes or wish to do something to support the IT profession. By joining our Company you can ensure that your contribution will have the maximum inpact through the leverage of the time, talents and resources available across our membership.

As a member of our Company you will also become part of a dynamic and friendly community. A rapid pace of change is a given in the IT profession, not only in term of technology, but also in terms of individual careers with IT professionals frequently changing roles, companies and even continents. Membership of our Company provides a complementary stability. Membership is for life and offers the chance to make lifelong friendships with like-minded people from all elements of the IT sector.

Members work together in 'Panels' around areas of mutual interest such as education, the arts, disability etc. Alongside these activity focused groups there is a wide range of social events ranging from informal winebar evenings, to business lunches (recent speakers have included Eddie George, Christopher Gent and Jon Snow) and formal black tie dinners.

Your contribution

Our members expect to give their time, expertise, resources and networks to support our charitable, educational and professional activities. Whilst the demands of career and family will mean that at any given time the level of face-to-face involvement with Company activities may vary, our members can still make an important contribution to our work by contributing their contacts, expertise and other resources to support specific activities.

Freemen and Liverymen

Initially, members join the Company as freemen. Subsequently there is the opportunity for members to progress to the status of Liverymen, which is a precursor to being considered for more senior positions within the Company and also bestows voting rights within the Corporation of London constitution.
